THE KOI ANTICIPATION SERIES
I remember first seeing some very large koi when I was a child and after that I always wanted some. Decades later I now keep my own and my collection of koi have inspired this series of recent paintings. Koi are certainly mesmerising to observe and I suppose it was a natural progression to decide to paint them, I've found them quite fascinating to paint and (apparently so I've been told) have developed my own recognisable style of painting them.
The colours soon took me away from my usual palette and even the variations in scale types and patterns add an extra level of interest. The title of this series comes from the fairly calm circling swimming that occurs just prior to the koi being fed.
